Brian Ho: Building Confidence Through Innovation, Education, and Purpose

From Business Graduate to International PMU Educator: The Story Behind BrianBrows
In the modern permanent makeup industry, few professionals successfully combine artistry, education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Brian Ho is one of those rare individuals.
As the founder of BrianBrows Beauty Spa & Academy in Canada, Brian has spent more than a decade developing his expertise in permanent makeup while building a brand that has become recognized across Eastern Canada for both beauty services and professional education. Today, Brian is known not only as a PMU artist and educator but also as the creator of the Nano Hair Strokes technique and the NEXT Nano Pigments system—innovations designed to improve healed results and enhance the client experience.
His journey into beauty was anything but conventional.
Before becoming a permanent makeup professional, Brian studied economics and business. Rather than following a traditional corporate path, he chose to pursue a career driven by creativity, human connection, and the desire to help people feel more confident in their appearance.
In 2018, he established BrianBrows Beauty Spa & Academy in Canada with a vision that extended far beyond providing beauty treatments. His goal was to create a professional environment where clients could receive personalized solutions and where artists could develop advanced skills through structured education.
Over the years, Brian expanded his expertise into multiple areas of micropigmentation, including eyebrows, lips, eyeliner, scalp micropigmentation, pigment correction, and PMU education. His work eventually led him toward developing proprietary techniques and pigment systems tailored to modern client expectations and diverse skin characteristics.
Today, Brian continues to train artists, develop educational programs, organize international beauty events, and advocate for higher standards within the permanent makeup industry.

In this exclusive interview with PULSE PMU, Brian Ho shares the philosophy behind his work, the lessons learned throughout his career, and his vision for the future of permanent makeup.
“PMU Became More Than a Profession”
PULSE PMU: Many artists know BrianBrows today, but few know the story behind it. Can you tell us about your journey into permanent makeup and the moment you realized this industry would become your life’s work?
BrianBrows was created with a simple but meaningful purpose: to bring value, beauty, and greater confidence into people’s lives.
From the very beginning, I never wanted BrianBrows to be just another beauty service provider. I wanted it to become a place where every client receives a personalized solution that truly addresses their individual needs.
For me, permanent makeup is not only about enhancing someone’s appearance. It is about helping people overcome insecurities, restore confidence, and create positive changes in their lives. The moment I realized PMU was no longer just a profession but a responsibility was when I understood the true impact of my work. The more knowledge and skills I gained, the more people I could help. The more experience I accumulated, the greater my responsibility became to share my passion and knowledge with the next generation of artists.
Seeing thousands of clients and students experience transformation—their smiles, their confidence, and sometimes even emotional moments—continues to remind me why I chose this path.
Today, PMU is not only my life’s work; it has become my lifelong mission.
Brian Ho and Building a Brand in a New Country
PULSE PMU: You successfully built both a beauty business and an educational academy in Canada. What were the biggest challenges you faced during that journey?
Building BrianBrows into one of the leading beauty centers and PMU academies in Eastern Canada has been an incredible journey, but it also came with many challenges.

As an entrepreneur entering a new market, I had to overcome many obstacles—from understanding regulations and licensing requirements to adapting communication and marketing strategies to fit local culture.
Fortunately, besides being a PMU educator, I also have an academic background in Business and Marketing. That combination allowed me to approach the industry from both a technical and strategic perspective.
The most valuable lesson I learned is that challenges can become opportunities when we approach them with the right mindset.
A significant percentage of my clients are mature customers with unique skin characteristics and specific expectations. Instead of viewing this as a limitation, I saw it as an opportunity to innovate.
Through years of experience, research, and practical work with different skin types, ethnic backgrounds, techniques, and pigments from around the world, I developed my own Nano PMU system and NEXT Nano Pigments.
These innovations were designed to improve pigment implantation, reduce unnecessary trauma to the skin, and create more predictable healed results.
Innovation Born from Real Clients

PULSE PMU: You are known for developing your own Nano Hair Strokes technique and creating NEXT Nano Pigments. What inspired you to move beyond being an artist and become an innovator?
I believe innovation is often born from challenges.
My journey as an innovator started from real experiences in daily practice. After performing thousands of procedures on clients with different skin types and backgrounds, I began recognizing limitations within existing techniques and products.
That motivated me to develop my own Nano Hair Strokes technique and NEXT Nano Pigments.
What makes these innovations meaningful is that they were not created only from theory or laboratory research. They were created from real-world experience.
Every improvement came through observation, testing, and continuous refinement to achieve better results for real clients.
Healed eyeliner result demonstrating precision, symmetry, and natural enhancement. Lip blush transformation highlighting color enhancement and healed natural results. Before, after, and healed Nano Hair Strokes brows with realistic hair-like definition.
Today, these systems have helped not only thousands of clients but also many artists and students improve their healed results and overall performance.
I believe the biggest difference in my approach is that I create solutions from the client’s perspective.
Many companies focus primarily on creating products for artists. I believe the ultimate user is the client—the person who carries that result every day.
Innovation should be meaningful, practical, and valuable.
The Biggest Mistakes Artists Make
PULSE PMU: Having worked as an educator for many years, what are the most common mistakes you see PMU artists making when trying to advance their careers?
One of the biggest mistakes is giving up too early or expecting success too quickly.
Everyone has a different learning journey. Some artists have natural talent from the beginning, while others require more time and practice.
What truly matters is commitment to continuous improvement.
Another common mistake is trying to learn everything at once.
Many artists chase technique after technique without mastering any of them.
Excellence comes from depth, not from collecting information.
Take the time to understand your craft, practice consistently, and develop your own professional identity.
A strong artist is not created overnight. It is built through discipline, patience, and passion.
The Future of Permanent Makeup

PULSE PMU: Which trends do you believe will have the greatest impact on artists over the next five years?
Every new machine, pigment, technique, and training method exists for one purpose: helping artists create better results with greater precision, safety, and efficiency.
However, beyond technology, the core value of PMU remains the same—understanding clients and creating personalized beauty solutions.
Over the next five years, I believe the industry will continue moving strongly toward natural results.
Techniques and technologies that enhance natural beauty while protecting skin health and supporting long-term satisfaction will continue to grow.
The industry is gradually moving away from overly dramatic results and toward refined techniques that respect individual features.
The future belongs to artists who combine technical excellence, scientific understanding, and a deep respect for each client’s individuality.

Defining Success
PULSE PMU: Looking back at your career, which achievement means the most to you personally?
After more than a decade in the industry, the achievement I am most proud of is not a title or an award.
It is the number of lives I have positively impacted.
I am proud knowing that my work has helped thousands of people improve not only their appearance but also their confidence, emotions, and quality of life.

I am also proud that I have always tried to approach this profession with sincerity, responsibility, and integrity.
For me, true success is not only about personal achievement.
It is about creating value that continues benefiting others—even beyond yourself.
Advice for the Next Generation
PULSE PMU: If you could give one piece of advice to a talented PMU artist who dreams of building an international reputation, what would it be?
Protect your passion, stay committed, and always remember why you started.
The foundation of PMU is not simply creating beautiful results. It is about creating safe and meaningful transformations for every client who trusts you.
There are no shortcuts.
Behind every great achievement are years of learning, practice, discipline, and continuous improvement.
Invest in your knowledge.
Train your skills.
Learn from every experience.
Most importantly, respect your clients and treat every person as an opportunity to create a positive impact.
If you have a big dream, have the courage to pursue it.
Your vision can become reality when you dedicate yourself fully to the journey.
Final Thoughts
In an industry often driven by trends, Brian Ho remains focused on something more enduring: value.
Whether through education, innovation, product development, or client care, his philosophy consistently returns to the same principle—creating meaningful results that improve people's lives.
His story is a reminder that lasting success in permanent makeup is not built solely on technical ability. It is built on purpose, responsibility, continuous learning, and a genuine commitment to serving others.
And perhaps that is why Brian Ho’s influence continues to extend far beyond the treatment room—through the artists he teaches, the innovations he develops, and the confidence he helps create every day.
